Warden Message - December 14, 2006 

The U.S. Consulate has received reports of multiple armed robberies, including possible fatalities, in the vicinity of Mile 2 of the Badagry Expressway on December 14, 2006.  These reports highlight the increased criminal activity associated with the holiday season.  Travelers should take appropriate security precautions and avoid travel outside the city, such as on the Badagry Expressway, particularly during hours of darkness.

The Consulate continues to advise Americans to review their security procedures, remain vigilant to their surroundings, and report specific incidences of targeted violence to the U.S. Consulate in Lagos at 01-261-0050.  You may also email the Lagos Consular Section at lagoscons2@state.gov.
