AMERICAN CITIZEN SERVICES

Registration

The most important function of U.S. Embassies and Consulates overseas is to protect, assist and inform American citizens traveling or residing abroad. U.S. citizens in Nigeria are strongly encouraged to register and to obtain information on travel and security in Nigeria at the U.S. Embassy in Abuja or the Consulate General in Lagos, Nigeria.

You can register in person at the Embassy or Consulate General during regular hours of operation, or on-line 24 hours a day at https://travelregistration.state.gov

When you register on-line you can update your contact information on the Internet at any time, making it easier for you to keep your information current. The site also provides you with up-to-date travel information customized to your unique travel agenda and itinerary. The data you provide is under the protection of State department firewalls. It can only be accessed by cleared personnel in embassies, consulates, and the department of state. It can only be released under the provisions of the Privacy Act. For more information about how and why to register, please click travel/tips/registration/registration.
