American Corner, University of Jos, held a one day interactive workshop to generate awareness among secondary school students on HIV/AIDS.  Over 20 students from Government Secondary School, Gangare, their teacher and its staff were in attendance. Two youth HIVAIDS activists led the workshop.  The students were shown the documentary “Living Together despite the Virus”. They were then asked to define HIV/AIDS and express their views about it.  They then participated in an interactive session on the history and definition of HIV/AIDS, sero conversion, latency stage, and modes of transmission and prevention methods.

The American Corner Jos recently received a collection of books on HIVAIDS.  This program helped to create awareness among youth, promote the American Corners and its materials on HIVAIDS, and demonstrated the U.S. commitment to addressing the seriousness of the problem in Nigeria.
