Ambassador Robin Renée Sanders on June 4, hosted key newspaper, radio and TV editors and religious leaders to listen together to U.S. President Obama’s speech in Cairo, Egypt – the President’s first major speech on the Continent of Africa. In his speech, the President proposed a new beginning between the United States and Muslims around the world, based upon mutual interest and mutual respect, including a sustained effort to listen to each other, learn from each other and respect one another. After listening to the speech, the group discussed with the Ambassador their views of the speech and perspectives on the U.S. relationship with Muslim countries and the desire of the United States to have a new beginning with the Islamic world and all countries in general.
