The Deputy Chief of Mission, Lisa A. Piascik described the US Goverment’s investment in Nigeria’s youth as deliberate action aimed at preparing them for leadership. She said this at the KAIROS Leadership Forum held last Saturday at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Ms. Piascik said investing in Nigeria’s youth is especially critical for building a better future.
She drew from the U.S. experience to demonstrate the vital role youth play in public policy. “This year marks the fiftieth anniversary of the desegregation of Little Rock Central High School. When nine young black secondary students tried to attend all-white Central High School, their enrollment sparked resistance and a constitutional crisis that would advance civil rights in America.”
Over 350 students participated in the program that ended with Ms. Piascik swearing-in members of the KAIROS Ahmadu Bello University chapter.
