U.S. Ambassador Robin Reneé Sanders and the Nigerian Society for Information, Arts and Culture’s (NSIAC) Vice President, Mr. Kolade Mosuro signed the Memorandum of Understanding to sustain the American Corner Ibadan. American Corners Coordinator Mrs. Adejoke Scott-Emuakpor and some members of the Society witnessed the signing.
The program was part of the U.S. Mission’s two week long program celebrating democracy and diversity.
In his short welcome speech, the Vice-President of NSIAC, Mr. Kolade Mosuro, expressed how happy he was to welcome the Ambassador and how lucky it was for NSIAC to be the first to host the Ambassador in Oyo State. He dwelt briefly on how NSIAC came into existence and highlighted some of its past activities. He expressed the hope that the Association will be able to host the Ambassador for a longer period in the future.
The Ambassador expressed her delight at the visit and commended the Association for the work it is doing judging from the brief report given by the Vice-President. She further remarked that she had visited some American Corners since her arrival in Nigeria and had found the Ibadan Corner to be truly a beautiful and impressive Corner. She said her visit would further strengthen the existing relationship with the Association that she had come to renew the MOU and to donate some books and computers to the center. She remarked that the donation of 3 computers to the Corner should lead to further growth for the Corner and recollected how she once worked in an office, many years ago, where only one computer was available to everyone in that office, but that as time went on, the office grew and they had more computers to work with. She, therefore, wished the Center more growth and success in the future.
