U.S. Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Nigeria Robin Renee Sanders hosted an event marking the 232nd anniversary of American independence. The event’s Guest of Honor was the Honorable Speaker of the House of Representatives, Oladimeji Bankole.
In her remarks, Ambassador Sanders said, “It is from this history that our commitment arises to work and be partners with like-minded people throughout the world such as with our friends here in Nigeria as they address election reform, education, health/HIV/AIDS, and development issues so that their democracy here can flourish. Our framework for partnership with Nigeria includes all of these things as well as creating business opportunities, economic well-being for the disadvantaged and securing a peaceful environment in which to live.”
Guests were treated to music by American musicians, the Fabulous Four and gospel singer Ursuline Kairson.
