The Fabulous Four, a jazz group from the U.S., treated jazz enthusiasts to a fantastic evening of music in Abuja. At a live performance at the NTA Arena on February 27, local musicians, government officials and diplomats enjoyed jazz and blues played by Clem Ashford, Tom McClung, Michael Robinson, and Frederick Tuxx.
This performance was indeed a celebration of cultural diversity between the United States and Nigeria. Speaking at the concert, Ambassador Robin Reneé Sanders stated that the U.S. and Nigeria are each enriched and strengthened by the diversity of their people and cultures.
A local backup band comprising Victor Dickson, Romeo Okafor, and Shola Emmanuel played with the Fabulous Four during the performance at the NTA Arena. The Fabuluos Four praised their Nigerian colleagues for their outstanding musical support.
The Fabulous Four are on a tour of Nigeria as part of a two-week celebration of democracy and diversity by the U.S. Diplomatic Mission to Nigeria. While in Abuja, the jazz group also performed at an event marking the 232nd anniversary of American independence. In addition to the live performances, the musicians were guests on radio talk shows at Zuma FM in Suleja and Cool FM in Abuja.
Clem Ashford and his colleagues will continue to thrill jazz enthusiast in Lagos next week.
