Embassy Community Observe Flag Retirement Ceremony

Today at the Embassy compound, a new U.S. Flag replaced the old one during a Flag Retirement ceremony witnessed by Ambassador Robin Sanders, DCM Lisa Piascik, Defense Attaché Colonel Peter Hoffman and members of the Embassy Community.  Reading from a prepared text, Lt. Will Fiack described the old flag as "no longer serviceable." although he said the flag had served its purpose very well. Ambassador's OMS Barbara Harris sang the first stanzas of “God Bless America” while the trio of Steve Westcott, Emmanuel Uwejeyan and LaWayne Foster lowered the old flag and hoisted the new one.  Sgt. Eva Lilley presented the retired flag to Ambassador Sanders.
