U.S. Deputy Chief of Mission Lisa Piascik on February 16 commissioned a borehole at the Suleja Community School in Suleja, Niger State. This borehole will provide clean and reliable water to the 2,000 students and staff of the school. This project was made possible by funding from the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) and was coordinated through DOD's Office of Security Cooperation, Humanitarian Assistance Section, at the U.S. Mission to Nigeria.
In her remarks, DCM Piascik highlighted the ongoing partnership of cooperation between the United States and Nigeria. “This borehole is another example of the cooperative effort between the people of the United States and the people of Nigeria to ensure a quality education is available for our children. In the past, our Humanitarian Assistance Office has completed building renovations and supplied student desks and school supplies to ensure that the children of Suleja have a productive and enjoyable education.”
