Press Release

Abuja, April 11, 2008

To better serve Nigerian citizens and other nationalities applying for U.S. visas, the U.S. Embassy Abuja is modifying the current visa revalidation system to a Drop-Box system.  This system is already in place at the U.S. Consulate General Lagos.

Beginning Monday April 14, 2008, visa applicants who wish to renew their full validity, multiple-entry, non-immigrant visa that is either still valid or expired within the last 12 months may visit the U.S. Embassy Abuja Consular Section visa gate any business day, Monday through Thursday at 1:00 p.m. to submit their completed visa application forms, passport, and visa application paid fee receipt.

Visa applicants processed for Drop-Box will return for their interview the next business day (Monday through Thursday) at 7:15 a.m.  Successful visa applicants can return to the visa gate two business days after the interview to collect their visaed passport.

Please visit the Embassy’s website at http://nigeria.usembassy.gov for additional information and instructions on the new visa Drop Box program at U.S. Embassy Abuja.  We believe this new Drop Box system will enhance visa processing.
