EID AL-ADHA Message

EID AL-ADHA Message From Secretary Clinton (October 24, 2012)

October 24, 2012

It gives me great pleasure to wish Muslims around theworld a happy Eid al-Adha, and to extend my heartfeltgreetings to those returning home from this year's annual Hajj pilgrimage.  It is always moving for me towitness millions of Muslims congregate - with thousandsof Americans among them - in one of the world's largestand most diverse gatherings.

Indeed, the image of millions of people coming togetherin a way that breaks down barriers of race, class, gender, and culture is an inspiration for the globalcommunity, and resonates meaningfully with the Americanpeople. During the Hajj, Muslims come together totranscend worldly borders and to aspire to a higherstandard; in this act is a lesson for all humanity.

On behalf of the U.S. Department of State, I wish myMuslim brothers and sisters around the world a happy Eidal-Adha celebration, and a safe journey home for thosereturning from the Hajj.  Eid Mubarak and Hajj Mabroor.

With best wishes and warm regards, I am

SINCERELY YOURS,

Hillary Rodham Clinton
