U.S. Citizen Services

The American Citizen Services (ACS) section of the Consular Section of the U.S. Mission to Nigeria provides a wide range of information and assistance to U.S. citizens in Nigeria. American Citizens Services are offered at the Embassy in Abuja and the Consulate in Lagos. Each has different service hours. Refer to this map for the state covered by each office.

Important Notices
The American Citizen Services Section cannot answer visa inquiries. All such inquiries must be directed to the visa section. Please go to the visa page http://nigeria.usembassy.gov/visa_services.html for contact information.
Please do not bring mobile phones or any electronic devices as they are not allowed within the Embassy. We also strongly advise that you do not bring large bags, such as backpacks, suitcases or packages to the interview as there are no storage facilities on Embassy grounds.
Only person(s) seeking consular services will be admitted into the Embassy. Exceptions will be made only if those seeking consular services are under 18, or if they are disabled and require assistance.

All other services are performed during normal business hours.

Monday – Thursday from 1:00pm – 3:00pm.

Friday from 8:00am – 11:00am.

Please note, the Embassy is closed to the public for American and Nigerian holidays, and the last Friday of every month.

Passport Pickup only: Monday to Thursday 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Friday 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

- Travel to Nigeria -

A visa is required to enter Nigeria. It is not possible to obtain one at the port of entry so travelers should apply well in advance at a Nigerian Embassy or Consulate.

ADVISORY TO THE MEDIA
The U.S. Mission to Nigeria wishes to advise U.S. journalists, film-makers, and other professionals involved in the creation of news or information products, that a special accreditation from the Nigerian Ministry of Information is required for all film and media activities in the Niger Delta. This special accreditation is in addition to the general press accreditation and valid Nigerian visa required to conduct such activities elsewhere in Nigeria. Moreover, foreign visitors are not allowed to take photographs or videotape of any government buildings, airports, or bridges.
