2011 Events

On January 13, 2011 two senior staff of the U.S. Embassy Abuja spoke to a group of youth on “Volunteerism and Non-Violent Elections.” The first speaker spoke on volunteerism and charged the youths to help in making their community a better place to live. While the second speaker talked on free and fair election.
To mark the 2011 Martin Luther King's Day, the American Corner Sokoto on January 20, 2011 hosted a "book reading" and discussion program. The U.S. Mission Nigeria Country Public Affairs Officer, Peter Claussen visiting Sokoto at that time led the discussion.
On August 13, 2011 American Corner Sokoto trained primary and secondary school students on the use of the newly acquired "Early Literacy Station." Eighteen children participated in the training and were excited about the new resources.
