2011 Events in American Corner Kano

• On January 31, 2011 the American Corner Kano hosted 20 pupils and 4 teachers of Omar Bn Khattab Primary School, Kano. During the visit the pupils were taught how to access information from the newly acquired early literacy tool which was fun learning to the children.
• To mark 2011 International Women's Day, American Corner Kano organized a seminar on March 8, 2011 to sensitize and enlighten youth from the civil society organizations on the need to participate in the electoral process by exercising their franchise and voting at the forthcoming Nigerian elections.
• On May 28, 2011 American Corner Kano in collaboration with a Kano State based NGO, Center for Youth Empowerment & Human Development organized a one-day capacity building program for elected new Kano State parliamentarians.
• On September 10, 2011 American Corner Kano organized a kiddies sallah celebration.  Thirty-four (34) children including some of their parents attended the program. The children watched a film titled “Akeelah and the Bee” after which they discussed the film.  The program was organised to enlighten children on the importance of education.
• On Monday, October 31, 2011 American Corner Kano organized a school debate for two schools in Kano. The topic of discussion was "Who is more important to the society, the teacher or the doctor." The program was organized to inculcate into students the ability to speak good and correct English using appropriate expressions. 
• American Corner Kano on November 19, 2011 organized a public lecture to mark the Global Entrepreneurship Week.  Thirty one guests including youth, women and civil society groups participated in the program.
